Equine Therapy
Rider Position

Combining equine therapy with correction of your riding position.
A blocked rider affects the horse’s movement and relaxation, just as a blocked horse limits the rider.

Is this for you?

  • You mostly ride alone
  • You’re not sure what you’re doing wrong
  • You lack balance in the saddle
  • You feel stuck at a certain point
  • You want to improve your riding position
  • Your usual training is mostly focused on the horse, not on you
  • You don’t have a trainer, or only occasionally
  • You don’t have mirrors in the arena and can’t see yourself
  • You feel like your seat isn’t quite right
  • Your horse has started to feel uncomfortable
  • You’re aware of bad habits
  • Or you’re not aware of bad habits you might have
  • You’re self-conscious about riding in front of others
  • You just need someone to observe you
  • You want the best for your horse and don’t want to block him
  • You’d like an “all in one” service

Equine Therapy & Rider Position Correction

Equine therapy is a targeted manual technique that affects the horse’s soft tissues – especially muscles, fascia, and tendons. We use various approaches (click here for more about techniques) with the aim of releasing tension, restoring tissue elasticity, improving circulation, and supporting the musculoskeletal system’s functionality.

Rider position correction focuses on the influence of the rider – their balance, seat, weight distribution, symmetry, and the accuracy of their aids. Long-term incorrect rider posture (often unintentional) can lead to one-sided strain on the horse, limiting its movement and creating compensations that eventually manifest either in reduced performance or physical issues.

Why combine these two techniques?

The horse constantly reacts to the rider’s movement and weight. If the rider is tilted, stiff, or asymmetrical, the horse instinctively compensates – often by changing its movement pattern, tightening one side of the body, or altering rhythm. This creates repeated strain on certain structures, potentially leading to chronic overload, muscle spasms, or unwillingness. Likewise, a stiff horse restricts the rider.

      Benefits of the Combined Approach

  • Immediate Feedback: In a single visit, we can assess weaknesses in your riding position and treat the horse with therapy. There’s no need to schedule separate appointments with different specialists. Both horse and rider can return to training with clear goals and a balanced, effective performance.
  • More Effective Asymmetry Resolution: Movement imbalances are mutual. A blocked rider affects the horse’s movement and relaxation, and a blocked horse affects the rider.
  • Improved Performance and Comfort for Both
  • Breaking the Vicious Cycle: Has your horse seen chiropractors, physiotherapists, and other professionals, yet keeps returning to the same stiffness? Maybe it’s a small issue in the rider’s posture or the horse’s body – one we can easily fix.
  • Problem Prevention: Many issues stem from accumulated faulty patterns and unresolved minor injuries. Addressing both rider and horse together helps prevent problems before they arise.

  •

No More Dividing What Belongs Together. You’re doing this for yourself and your horse – as a pair meant to work in harmony.

The 7 Points of the Vicious Cycle

  • Unbalanced Riding Position
When the rider sits asymmetrically, has uneven contact, or unintentionally puts more weight on one side, the horse begins to adapt to the imbalance.
  • Disruption of Natural Movement
The horse compensates, changes posture, and loses lightness and suppleness in movement.
  • Stiffness and Overload Develop
Certain areas of the body become overused, muscles contract, and the horse becomes less cooperative. Overloaded regions start to stiffen.
  • Changes in Muscle Tone and Posture
Some muscles take over the work of others, creating muscular imbalances and losing symmetry. Certain muscle groups become overused while others weaken.
  • Decreased Performance and Mental Tension
The body works inefficiently. The horse becomes unwilling, irritated, distracted. Refuses work, loses enthusiasm for movement.
  • Risk of Injury
Long-term overuse can lead to soft tissue problems (tendons, ligaments, back).
